World Elder Abuse Awareness Day!

Honoring Elder Abuse Awareness Day with Community Connections

Tomorrow, June 15, is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), the perfect reminder that our loved ones need additional support in their golden years. Here at Macha, we strive to honor the older adults in our communities by highlighting ways to protect them from financial exploitation.

Mary Gilmeister, Macha's President & CEO, is the chair of Nacha’s Consumer Financial Exploitation Project team. This team, along with the Payments Innovation Alliance, will be releasing materials for your institution to use every week during the month of June in order to combat the rapidly increasing cases of Elder Abuse. You can find them here at Nacha.org.

Aligning with a network of people who care about these issues strengthens our communities in many ways. We can better serve and educate on financial abuse and fraud, and reacting to scams or bad actors becomes more efficient. Financial institutions are an important part of this network.
