Hawai'i Elder Fraud Prevention & Response Network Retreat

April 27, 2022

You're invited to participate in this year's Hawai'i Elder Fraud Prevention and Response Network Retreat.

May 12th, 2022

8:15 AM - 12:30 PM HST

Location: Virtual

In celebration of last year’s World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) in Hawai'i, elder justice professionals and stakeholders gathered to build collaboration and networks to protect Kūpuna from financial exploitation and other types of abuse. Attendees said, “We can do this - we CAN intervene better for our elders at risk of financial abuse” and “It felt like I was part of the change surrounded by professionals advocating for a greater purpose.” Most importantly “Building off of the momentum of this wonderful collaborative conference is much needed.”

We invite you to do just that - to continue to build Hawai'i’s networks. Join an online meeting of representatives from public and private agencies and organizations to address elder financial exploitation in Hawai'i. Facilitated by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, participants include a range of organizations including AARP Hawai'i, Hawai'i Credit Union League, Hawai'i Executive Office on Aging, Hawai'i Department of Human Services, Hawai'i Office of the Securities Commissioner, Macha, National Adult Protective Services Association, as well as many other financial, social, legal organizations and, YOU!

We will continue to develop and strengthen our professional networks to prevent and enhance response to elder financial exploitation at the state and local level. As part of the event, attendees will participate in County-level breakout sessions to collaborate on development or continuation of networks. Your insights and expertise are critical to this effort.

In preparation for the meeting, please consider the following question: How can Hawai'i’s elder justice stakeholders work together to address cases of elder financial exploitation?
